The Moisheketeers

Zvi Bellin 7/07 - ??/??
Shalom all! This is Zvi Bellin and I live in the Silver Spring, MD Moishe House. I moved to the area about one year ago from New York, via Israel and San Fran. I am a student at Loyola Collge, Maryland, in a PhD program in Pastoral Counseling (Integrating the spiritual and the psychological). Besides that I teach kids Torah, intern as a counselor in a loss and grief center, and will be studying to become a Yoga teacher too! Through all that I love to laugh about almost everything. Many blessings!

Alan Scott Belsky 7/07 - 11/09
Despite Alan's tales of growing up the "black sheep" of a vegan-queer-activist commune in rural upstate New York, he is actually from a nice Orthodox family in Brooklyn. He came to Maryland to study Geography, discover slam poetry, and complain about the local driving habits. He loves chicken kabob laffa and extreme weather, even though they're bad for him. Alan has a bike named Earl that he rides around, except when he lets Earl ride him around, just to be nice. He thinks Moishe House is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Rachael Freedman 9/07 - ??/??
MD native -- the only one around, it seems. Educator, event co-ordinator, marketing specialist. Love nature / the outdoors, kids, people, culture, music, animals, classic movies, radio, dance, history, cooking, stories, laughing, photography, arts in general, thinking, learning, problem-solving, reading, writing, creating, deep discussions, coffee houses, OTR, & turtles. Returned in September 2007 from a 5-month stint working for outdoor education company Nature's Classroom (www.naturesclassroom.org) in New England to be a part of the Moishe House Silver Spring -- & glad to be here! =) Come on over -- you are always welcome.

Howdy Do all?!? Just moved into the MH Silver Spring -- let’s be friends! I’m a law student by day, and sadly, I’m also a law student by night, because as the saying goes “everything in moderation, except law school.” But given my love for all things Jewish, I decided to avoid law related extra-curriculars that would further my career, and instead chose to live with a bunch of awesome Jews and plan awesome events for other awesome Jews. My parents are schepping all kinds of naches… Based on my facebook page, as well as my own knowledge of myself, I like all things hippy-Jewish, vanilla flavored soy milk, cooking, music, laying in the grass, and bikes with milk crates. My facebook page also suggests I’m an athlete, but that’s because it hasn’t been updated in a few years… Traveling is a newly discovered passion, which I hope to revisit when I have both time and money… perhaps in a few decades? I think laughing is fun, and we should all do it more often. My favorite book remains the Little Prince, and my favorite play is Rent.

Lindsay Morris 7/08 - ??/??
Lindsay, born and raised outside of Syracuse, NY, joined the MHSS August 2008. She studied Spanish and Chemistry at Bucknell University and enjoyed some wonderful experiences studying, traveling and volunteering abroad. Next, she volunteered in AmeriCorp in PA & and then moved to DC as a member in AVODAH: The Jewish Service Corp. Lindsay loves to travel, read, journal, dance, bike, be outside, live sustainably, cook & eat vegetarian style, promote social justice & peace, and make people smile.

Shelly Kremer 9/09 - ??/??
I'm a big fan of pink tutus, green communal living, Judaism, Hebrew, organic carrots, and challah. I grew up in a Jewish Conservative environment in California and headed to DC for AVODAH: The Jewish Service Corp in 2006. My professional background is a mishmash of digital and studio arts, education, construction management, and volunteer training. And I have to agree with Alan, Moishe House is the best thing since sliced bread.
